What's good and what's bad about majority rule?
Majority rule is the way to determine what the decision is as a group, which the minority follows the majority will. It is usually presented in voting and sees which option has more votes. You can always see this happened in commercial world, political world or even within family. This shows that the majority rule is both a written and unwritten law that most people fallowed.
Majority rule is significant because it shows what most people want. Following that option they picked would definitely satisfy the major group. For example, the United States presidential election is carry out in the form of voting and even though their vote percentage is close (relatively), the society would go with the higher one.
However, the majority rule has its disadvantage. It cannot satisfy every single one in the group. Let's say the presidential election again. I am sure that people who have picked McCain are not happy to the result for sure. This explains even the majority rule is not perfect; there is no way to get a win-win situation every time.
I found it is ironic that people promote the majority rule but at the same time advocating the minority rights, isn’t that contradicts with what they say?

You say,"The United States presidential election is carry out in the form of voting and even though their vote percentage is close (relatively), the society would go with the higher one." It is not really true. If you go back to the vote for between John Kerry and G.Bush on 2002, you will see that even though John Kerry had more votes than G.Bush in population votes, he loose because of the States' votes.
